Members of the South End Charlton-Pollard Greater Historical Community Association with the Beaumont City Planners to discuss the potential layout and lease agreement for the Community Garden to be on Irving Street next to the Community Center. The meeting was held at City Hall on April 22nd.
We are excited to say that we are on our way to something great. We are starting the communicating the drafting and design and layout of all things included. There is a design idea in play and we welcome all ideas available. Please keep in mind this is a self sustaining community garden, outdoor learning space with outdoor kitchen and community table. Most of the structures that are planned for the site are considered as portable or movable including the storage greenhouse and raised beds. With that said. We must display where those structures will be. The only permanent placement is that of the rain and water capturing storage tanks (planned for underground storage). There is planning for an in-ground pond or more than likely above ground aquarium with catfish. We got great ideas from our city employees as well and would like to consider their suggestions.
